NOTICES:

We wel­come vis­it­ors with us today espe­cially fam­il­ies who are join­ing us for the ded­ic­a­tion of the two garden seats in memory of two very spe­cial people: Fabi­an Lo Schiavo and Rose­mary Brad­ford.  Fabi­an and Rose­mary had these attrib­utes in com­mon: com­pas­sion for all; justice for all; a friend to all, a love of music and a liv­ing faith.  May they rest in peace.
Straight after the ser­vice we will pro­cess out to the car­park for the ded­ic­a­tion of the Garden Seats in Memory of Rose­mary and Fabi­an.   Morn­ing tea will be served fol­low­ing the ded­ic­a­tion, in the hall or weath­er per­mit­ting, outside.

 

 

The flowers in the church today are donated by Fr Philip in lov­ing memory of his wife, Rosemary.

The war­dens and par­ish coun­cil are seek­ing a Vol­un­tary Hall Hire Admin­is­trat­or.  This needs to be someone fairly loc­al with a vehicle.  This vol­un­tary pos­i­tion includes per­son­ally show­ing poten­tial hall hirers the facil­it­ies, sup­ply­ing a con­tract with the rel­ev­ant details (tem­plate avail­able), pla­cing the book­ing into the church/hall events cal­en­dar, check­ing with the treas­urer that the book­ing fee and key depos­it have been paid (pri­or to the event), pro­vi­sion of a hall key or the key safe code pri­or to the event and per­son­ally check­ing the hall etc after each event to allow the depos­it to be returned (only if the premises left clean and tidy) and mak­ing sure the key has been returned.  It would also require the fol­low­ing up of reg­u­lar hall hirers to ensure pay­ment is made and premises is left clean after each event.

Stu­art Grigg and Stu­art Veitch, our pre­vi­ous hall hire admin­is­trat­ors have been doing it for many years and we thank them sin­cerely for their com­mit­ment and con­tri­bu­tion to the par­ish.  Our hall hirers’ dona­tions bring in quite a bit of rev­en­ue for the par­ish and we are grateful!

The Par­ish Coun­cil is look­ing for volun­teers to form a Christ­mas Mar­ket Com­mit­tee to over­see the plan­ning and oper­a­tion of the Mar­ket this year.  If this is some­thing you would like to be involved with, please see the War­dens or Andy Ser­afin.  Once we have a suf­fi­cient num­ber we will con­vene a meeting.

 

7.30 pm — Tues­day Night Bible Study at Fr Philip’s home, 5 Lin­coln St Stan­more. All wel­come.  The study for this term will be The Acts of the Apostles.  Please bring a bible.

Fri­day 10^th May from 5.30pm– Week of Pray­er for Chris­ti­an Unity — Ser­vice and Fun­drais­ing Dinner:

We would like to have a table from St Luke’s Enmore and join folk from the oth­er churches.

Greek Ortho­dox Cathed­ral in Red­fern at 5.30pm, fol­lowed by a fun­drais­ing din­ner at 6.45pm in their adja­cent hall.

Tick­ets are $70 and include a three-course din­ner, includ­ing drinks and some entertainment.

It is also the 100^th Anniversary of the Greek Ortho­dox Arch­diocese in Aus­tralia, so we will cel­eb­rate with them.

Wed­nes­day 22^nd May – The Sixth Shar­wood Lecture:

The Sixth Robin Shar­wood Lec­ture will can­vass where there have been appar­ent col­li­sions between anti-dis­crim­in­a­tion law and church law and prac­tice (for example, on women and LGBTQI issues), wheth­er there needs to be a col­li­sion, what the lim­its of anti-dis­crim­in­a­tion law are as it inter­acts with church law and affects churches and where our val­ues may sug­gest that we sup­port anti-dis­crim­in­a­tion law.

Time: 7.15pm (pre­ceded by Even­song at 6.15pm)

This ser­vice will com­mem­or­ate Oxford Move­ment Sunday, giv­ing thanks for the litur­gic­al tra­di­tion with­in Anglic­an­ism. The ser­vice will be fol­lowed by light refresh­ments. No RSVP required. All welcome.
