Thank you to Fr Philip for tak­ing our ser­vice today.   Fr Jeff and Michelle will be back on Tues­day 16th July.

 

 

Thank you once again to all who assisted with our won­der­ful Christ­mas in July High Tea last Sat­urday week.  Our mulled wine, hot savoury food, and homemade scones and cakes were deli­cious.  Thank you to all who came; spe­cial thanks to Susan Deas who greatly enhanced the atmo­sphere with her piano play­ing and to Jo and Lou for the fant­ast­ic dec­or­a­tions.  To our cooks and food pre­par­a­tion people, to those who provided teapots and china and espe­cially to Fr Philip, the Chiew and Flem­ing fam­il­ies and Kathy Drum­mond — a simple thank you isn’t enough!! Tally for the Myan­mar pro­ject TBC.

TONIGHT at 6.30pm — Oxford Move­ment Even­song: The Par­ish of Christ Church St Laurence (812 George St, Hay­mar­ket) extends an invit­a­tion to Fest­iv­al Even­song, Pro­ces­sion and Bene­dic­tion. This ser­vice will com­mem­or­ate Oxford Move­ment Sunday, giv­ing thanks for the litur­gic­al tra­di­tion with­in Anglic­an­ism. The ser­vice will be fol­lowed by light refresh­ments. No RSVP required. All welcome.

 

 

NAIDOC WEEK — Poetry BoardFea­tur­ing Greg Page (not the Wiggle), a Koori poet from Sydney.  Greg holds a MA in Cre­at­ive Writ­ing from the Uni­ver­sity of Tech­no­logy, Sydney, & is pub­lished in vari­ous lit­er­ary journ­als.  Greg is a friend of Jo Middleton’s.  Please see her if you have any ques­tions.   Noel Jeff’s poem about a mas­sacre of indi­gen­ous people which happened on the land near his family’s prop­erty is also fea­tured. Please take a look.

Sunday 29th Sept — Myan­mar Lunch here at St Luke’s fol­low­ing church, and tea/coffee, and sim­il­ar to last year.   This is to help raise a fur­ther con­tri­bu­tion to the Myan­mar Clean Water Pro­ject.   It would be great to duplic­ate the sup­port our par­ish gave to this ABM ini­ti­at­ive last year.  RSVP to the Par­ish Office by 18th Sept 2024.

(Tre­vor and his wife Heath­er worked with The Lep­rosy Mis­sion for 55 years, help­ing to trans­ition McK­ean in Chi­angmai, North­ern Thai­l­and, from a Lep­rosy Insti­tu­tion, to a mod­ern, integ­rated state of the art centre for sur­gery and rehab­il­it­a­tion for people with all sorts of dis­ab­il­it­ies, as well as a mod­ern aged care facility).
