NOTICES:
Next Sunday: 9.30am service Eucharist with Baptism and alternative 6pm Evening Service.
Baptism on 6 March: At the morning service on Sunday 6 March 2022 the Parish is delighted to host the baptism of baby Ava Rose into the community of faith. This will bring a large number of visitors to our Parish — we are expecting the congregation to more than double. There are no longer limits on the number of people that can attend church, and while we prefer to maintain social distancing by sitting on the green ticks, this will not be possible at the baptism, where we expect 2–3 people to be seated on each pew. The visitors are supportive of our desire to continue wearing masks indoors for the time being and have committed to do likewise. Due to the increased numbers, a larger space will be reserved for morning tea. Parishioners are advised to park on Stanmore Road, at the Cyprus Club or at the Edgeware Road carpark. There will also be an evening service available on the same day, which we commend to those who may be concerned about attending with a larger congregation. It is exciting to be able to welcome so many visitors to our Parish, let us take every opportunity to share with them what is special about St Luke’s.
The flowers in church today are donated by Ann Petersen in loving memory of Wolfgang Winter, whose birthday would have been on Tuesday 1st March (St David’s Day, Patron Saint of Wales).
Palm Crosses: Please remember to bring in your palm crosses from last year. We will burn these to make the ash on Shrove Tuesday for our Ash Wednesday services.
Ash Wednesday services — Wed 2nd March — at 10.30am & 7.30pm.
An Interesting Point re Parish Finances
Usually the month of January is quite a difficult month for the parish financially as many people go away for holidays. However, this year, because so many of you have begun supporting the parish via electronic giving, January has been much better that previous years in this respect. A big thank you to everyone who has made this adjustment. And if you haven’t yet, please think about it. It has made a really big difference. Fr. Jeff

Pancakes at the Rectory – 7pm on Tuesday 1st March:
Fr Jeff and Michelle invite parishioners and their relatives to the Rectory to share in the tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday as a precursor to the beginning of Lent the following day (Ash Wednesday). Fr Jeff is the pancake maker for this special occasion. Please come, and though not necessary, a filling/topping for some pancakes would be most welcome.
Please RSVP so that Fr Jeff knows how many pancakes to make. Come on everyone – lets get together.

Sunday Night Services:
Most would be aware that our lay minister, Peter Seymour, leads the Sunday evening service on the first Sunday of the month. This takes place at 6.00 p.m. in the summer and 5.00 p.m. in winter. Speaking with Peter, he believes that the need for and the form of this service should be revisited. At the moment we follow the service of Prayer, Praise and Proclamation from the Prayer Book.
Speaking with other parish ministers, Sunday evening services are generally hard to get going, even in much bigger parishes. Peter and I would like to know if there are any suggestions about what form the service should take, preferably from people who would actually attend and/or take part. Please speak with Peter or Fr Jeff.

Points for thought and discussion from WorkingPreacher.org
Julie Sevig
1. Remembering those who came before us helps us make sense of ourselves. Whose presence do you feel? (Luke 9:30–34)
2. Moses reflects God’s divine glory (Exodus 34:1). Who today reflects the gracious character of God to you?
3. How is the same Spirit that is active in Corinth (2 Cor. 3) also at work in your congregation/community?
