YES – We can Sing!!!!
However, when we sing in church EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK!!!
The Wardens and the Rector met during the week to consider the issue of singing in church. We considered the results and comments from the e‑mail survey as well as other views that had been put to us, and carefully read the relevant legislation and the Archbishop’s advice. As a result, we have decided that St Luke’s should return to congregational singing of the hymns, with the condition that while the congregation is singing all of us must wear a mask, whether singing or not. The Premier has said this is to be reviewed on 17th March.
The usual COVID-safe measures continue to apply:
• Make use of the hand sanitiser available upon arrival, and before communion.
• Sit only where you find a green tick. Where there are two green ticks side by side, please leave for couples/pairs, wherever possible.
• At the peace, greet those in your immediate vicinity with folded hands or a nod, and refrain from moving about the church
• At communion, wait for the call from an usher before leaving your pew and maintain a single line in the aisle, in line with the markers.
• At the conclusion of the service, keep moving through the foyer to avoid a build-up of people waiting to exit.
In keeping with health advice concerning the use of outdoor settings and well-ventilated spaces, we are keeping church doors open whenever possible, and offer and encourage all parishioners to join morning tea outdoors.
The NSW Public Health Order requires all of us to scan the Q‑code using the Services NSW App when attending church. If you cannot scan in, please tell a Welcomer, who will find an alternative method to register you. If you need any help with the set up on your phone, Stuart Veitch is happy to assist at morning tea.
Please avoid attending church if you have any symptoms.

Botticelli to Van Gogh Exhibition:
Expressions of interest are invited to visit the Botticelli to Van Gogh Exhibition at the National Art Gallery (Canberra) on possibly Friday/Saturday 30 April/1 May, staying overnight.
The Exhibition entry ticket is $28, or $25 conc. Overnight accommodation is approximately $125. Meal costs would also need to be factored in to the cost.
Please let the office know by Monday 8 March if you-
a) are interested in going;
b) need transport or willing to drive; or
c) wish to fly, train or bus independently.
It was thought that a bus could be hired, with a driver to transport those of us who are interested, to the exhibition. Due to COVID restrictions (social distancing) on transport, however, this could work out to be rather costly. If we only have a few people, one or two cars may suffice.
All interested persons will be notified of the outcome by Sunday 14 March after which details/bookings can be finalised.
Email Etiquette Policy: In these ‘days of email’ we must be careful how we use this method of communication.
The following rules must be observed in this community to avoid disturbing and upsetting each other:
- We must NOT add anyone to an emailing list without their prior consent.
- If we have done this in the past, then either (1) ask that person if they want to remain on the emailing list, or (2) remove any such person from your mailing list.
- If you are receiving unwanted emails from anyone in this parish community then let them or me know and ask for your name to be removed from that list.
This does not apply to parish emails regarding attendance.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Let’s Start Thinking – From Fr. Jeff. 2020 was in some ways a year in which the aim was to “get through and make the best of it.” 2021 brings with it the hope of a vaccine and the chance to re-set our course forward. I am very interested in hearing the ideas of ALL parishioners as to what we need to do, change, do more of, do less of, add to our activities. It is best to put these ideas on paper rather than in a conversation. There will be a more formal process later in the year, but let’s start thinking now.
Art in the Hall: This month’s piece is Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh,1889. The Parish Council has now endorsed the idea of allowing parishioners to have art works hung in the Hall on a temporary basis. Please note that no responsibility is taken for the security or protection from damage or theft of any artwork on loan. A form waiving any claim by a lender/donor must be signed before any artwork is accepted. Preference is for art with a recognisable Anglican content.
We need parishioners specially to assist with roster duties: Thank you to those who have already volunteered. Please speak to Ruth Champion if you can help Mob: 0400 166 041.
Lea MacNeil has jam to sell and various sauces; please email her lea.macneil@gmail.com if you would like to give her an order. You may, of course, ask her what type of jam and/or preserve or sauces she has on hand. Donald, her husband can deliver your specific order to the Opshop where you are able to pay for it.
Food for our worms – Food scraps (no dairy, citrus or meat) can be left in the bucket provided. This is part of our Parish environmental initiative.

Give us an increasing trust in you and fill our hearts and minds with your peace. We pray for those around the world now struggling with COVID-19. Heal and comfort those who are sick and suffering.
