Work­ing for Love, Hope, & Justice.
Saint Paul, writ­ing to the Thes­sa­lo­ni­ans makes men­tion of their faith, love for one anoth­er and per­sever­ance under dif­fi­cult cir­cum­stances. This was the ancient world so repu­ta­tion was passed on by word of mouth. What a testi­mony it was. What is your church known for? May God count us worthy of his call­ing so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glor­i­fied in us and may we con­tin­ue to pray for one anoth­er and give thanks to God.

• Let us pray that God will count us worthy of his call­ing and that by his power we might be known as people of faith and love.
• Give thanks for the work of Episco Care in Egypt (Dr Maged Moussa Yani, Dir­ect­or), the Dio­cese of Jerusalem’s devel­op­ment desk (espe­cially for Sawsan Aranki-Bata­to), and the Rev Roger Kay and Bish­op Grant LeMarquand (Area Bish­op for Ethiopia).

The oracle that the proph­et Habakkuk saw. O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not listen? Or cry to you ‘Violence!’ and you will not save? Why do you make me see wrong­do­ing and look at trouble? Destruc­tion and viol­ence are before me; strife and con­ten­tion arise. So the law becomes slack and justice nev­er pre­vails. The wicked sur­round the right­eous— there­fore judge­ment comes forth per­ver­ted. I will stand at my watch-post, and sta­tion myself on the ram­part; I will keep watch to see what he will say to me, and what he will answer con­cern­ing my com­plaint. Paul, Sil­vanus, and Timothy, o the church of the Thes­sa­lo­ni­ans in God our Fath­er and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Fath­er and the Lord Jesus Christ. We must always give thanks to God for you, broth­ers and sis­ters, as is right, because your faith is grow­ing abund­antly, and the love of every one of you for one anoth­er is increas­ing. He entered Jericho and was passing through it. A man was there named Zac­chaeus; he was a chief tax-col­lect­or and was rich. He was try­ing to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a syca­more tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way. When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, ‘Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today.’ So he hur­ried down and was happy to wel­come him. We’d like to see a full house for the Con­firm­a­tion, so please make an effort to be here, and it would be appre­ci­ated if you could be on time (or even early!) Each Christ­mas we encour­age parish­ion­ers to donate to this worthy cause and Lien will speak about the work accom­plished through your gen­er­ous dona­tions.

World Anglic­an Com­mu­nion News
One third of the pop­u­la­tion of Leban­on are refugees from oth­er coun­tries, an Anglic­an del­eg­a­tion heard this week as they met with the Middle East Coun­cil of Churches in Beirut. The meet­ing came as Anglic­an mem­bers of the Anglic­an-Ori­ent­al Ortho­dox Inter­na­tion­al Com­mis­sion (AOOIC) took advant­age of the group’s annu­al meet­ing, tak­ing place in the city, to see for them­selves how the region was respond­ing to the refugee crisis.
